When is the show?

Our summer plays usually close out the Castlewood Days weekend. The show this year will take place on Sunday, August 16th, 2026. Time TBD. It will be performed on the stage at the Castlewood School South Gym.

What if I'm new to acting and have no experience?

That's totally fine! We will work with anyone that is willing to learn! We have a lot of kids who are willing to help the new actors out as well.

Do I need to prepare anything for my audition?

Please scroll down further on this page to get to the audition materials if you are auditioning for a specific character.

If you have any questions, please contact Laureen at 605-496-2003.

Is there a list of characters?

Yes, you can view the list of characters for Matilda here.

When are rehearsals?

There will be separate music and reading/blocking rehearsals. I will group kids together based on the scenes they are in. We will work around everyone's other activities/vacations/etc.

I will have a schedule for May/June right after the show has been cast.

What to prepare for the audition

General Audition

Don't know which part you'd like to audition for? That's okay! Here's a list to get you familiar with the characters.

If you just want to audition, and don't have a particular part in mind, please just show up at one of the audition times, and I will have a part for you to read.

Please be prepared to sing!

Auditioning for a specific role?

If you'd like to audition for a specific role (or a few different roles), please use the following monologues to prepare.

Please be prepared to sing as well!

This would be a great song to know if you don't know what to sing! (first 40 seconds)

**Please keep in mind that not everyone will get their first choice!

Let's put on a great show!
